About the area
Al Rayyan is a municipality rather than a neighbourhood, running west from Doha's edge and holding a large share of the country's population. It is family territory: standalone villas, compounds, international schools and two of the World Cup stadiums. Rents fall noticeably the further west you go.
Al Rayyan is Qatar's third-largest municipality, covering the whole eastern section around Metropolitan Doha and running far south-west into largely undeveloped land. In practice most people mean the built-up suburbs: villas, compounds, schools and two World Cup stadiums.
